a gate to the past…
Practicing a traditional, lineage based, acupuncture and Chinese medical system in today’s world is no easy feat. Master-student relationships are few and far between in the modern day. Realising that one must step into the past in order to benefit the future is an undertaking that only a handful can commit too. David White’s goal, as a classical practitioner of Neijing acumoxa (traditional acupuncture and moxibustion of the Han dynasty), is to develop these methods, practice and teach them, and harness history for today.
This undertaking is more than just needles and herbs: it is about devoting one’s day-to-day life to that of a time long gone. What was once lost, diluted, and forgotten is now found, enriched, and memorised. There is a classical revolution in Chinese medicine around the world, however, more often than not, those that label themselves as such do so without the training and without the dedication. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are style based systems, some are very new (such as “Traditional Chinese Medicine” or “TCM”, and “Tung” or “Tan” acupuncture) and some are old (such as “Neijing acumoxa” or “Japanese acupuncture”). To be considered classical the style must be rooted in the classics or Jing 經 texts. This is what we practice and preach, the medical synthesis of the Huangdi Neijing 黃帝內經 (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic).
